This is a monoprint done by Dino-Wolf on DeviantArt. Not gonna lie, I have no idea who that is, but here's why it's A: A Monoprint and B: Why I like it. A: It's a monoprint because whatever they used to print it was completely gone after it was printed. Most likely, it was a bunch of ink rolled out on a sheet of metal or a gelli plate and then removed or drawn on with something like a popsicle stick. B: I like it because it looks like it was sketched, but it's too dark and clean to be drawn, which gives it a look that's perfectly balanced between print and not print. It also has a uniqueness that a lot of other monoprints don't seem to have, because of how drawn it was. In general I like Monoprints because of how zen they are, like Mandalas; those eastern things where people put a bunch of gorgeour colored sand on the ground in amazng designs for days, if not weeks, and then they just blow it all away without a second thought.

The process of Monoprinting

Okay, I’m going crazy today, so I’m not going to start with good context, but that’s okay, because you know what the context is anyway. I got the Gelli Plate out of it’s container, and I put it on the glass sheet so that mah stuff would stay clean. I found a template of like a hexa pattern, and placed that down. I then rolled Ink with the Brayer over it, and removed the template. The ink was gone and the print wasn’t replicable a second time, because I changed the plate. Therefore, it was a Monoprint
